We are moving the story contests to a new website as we continue to grow! It has been wonderful to work with the Yamhill Downtown Association and promote our contests and town fun for the past six years. The Beverly Cleary Committee is growing! Check out the new website: beverlyclearydays.com
This fun project began as a dedication to our town's notable children's author with the goal of inspiring kids in the community to write and read. It has creatively grown each year with the help of grants and generous donors. It continues to grow like Beverly Cleary's character Emily, who has a run-away-imagination. A character and story loosely written about Beverly's early experiences growing up in Yamhill. Similarly, each year our town event grows with a new creative chapter.
We have contests for Yamhill County residents and also any child writer in the contingent US. We celebrate a different character each year. This year is "Ramona the Brave!" Check out the annual kid's writing, coloring and illustrating contests which began April 12, in honor of Beverly Cleary's birthday. We continue to have the contest open all of May. Many participants at our town celebration want to write a story too! Check out this year's story contest for kids at the new website HERE. Super fun PRIZES!
New this year, is a our children's writer and illustrator workshops! If you have a children's story and want to work on your craft of writing and illustrating with fun creatives, then check out how to sign up at beverlyclearydays.com
